The Sun makes our life on Earth possible by providing us with light, heat, and other types of energy, but how much do we really know about our closest star? Join us for activities and demonstrations about the Sun, as well as presentations by scientists from the Solar and Stellar X-ray Group at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. All events take place in the Gordon Current Science & Technology Center.

12:00 - 4:00 p.m. Drop-in activities and demonstrations.

12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Exploring the Sun Learn about a new mission to study the Sun: the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). The SDO launches in February 2010 and will study the Sun in full coverage, observing many different wavelengths of light.
